Join Ireland's Skills Revolution with Generation Apprenticeship

Today, we'd like to tell you about the initiative aimed at promoting apprenticeships - Generation Apprenticeship.

An apprenticeship is a chance to receive a salary as a working employee while gaining essential knowledge and skills. This learning journey takes place both in the workplace and within an educational institution, all while receiving compensation. The duration of apprenticeships varies depending on the specific program, typically spanning from two to four years. Wages also vary depending on the specific apprenticeship programme and start from €200 per week

In early 2022, the National Apprenticeship Office was established by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science. Its mission is to create a nationwide platform that mutually benefits jobseekers and business owners, with a target of registering over 10,000 apprentices annually by 2025. In 2023, the Government is committed to investing more than €250 million into the program.

Currently, there are 43 upcoming apprenticeships in various fields set to launch this year. These opportunities cover industries such as:

  • Agriculture and Horticulture
  • BioPharma
  • Construction
  • Electrical
  • Engineering
  • Finance
  • Hairdressing
  • Healthcare
  • Hospitality Food
  • Information and Communications Technology
  • Insurance
  • Logistics
  • Motor
  • Property Services
  • Recruitment
  • Sales

To embark on an apprenticeship in Ireland, you must secure employment with an approved apprenticeship employer, a status granted by SOLAS prior to hiring apprentices. Apprenticeship contracts are formalized as a fundamental aspect of the apprenticeship process.
