Aer Lingus Cabin Crew Recruitment Campaign Takes Flight

Aer Lingus Cabin Crew Recruitment Campaign Takes Flight
If you stand at a minimum height of 158cm (5ft 2in), are proficient in swimming unassisted for 25 meters, have the flexibility to work non-traditional hours, and bear no visible tattoos or piercings when wearing the cabin crew uniform, you may meet the eligibility requirements for Aer Lingus' extensive cabin crew recruitment campaign, recently launched to represent their airline.
This recruitment endeavor mirrors similar initiatives pursued by Ryanair and Emirates, all in response to the heightened demand for travel in the post-pandemic era, prompting the need to bolster their workforce.
Concerning compensation:
Aer Lingus offers fixed-term contracts with an initial gross basic salary of €24,617.39, complemented by variable pay averaging €6,500 annually (gross).
To qualify for the Aer Lingus cabin crew role, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Hold eligibility to reside and work in the Republic of Ireland
- Demonstrate the ability to swim unaided for 25 meters, tread water, and independently board a raft from the water
- Be capable of applying for and obtaining US immigration/entry visas
- Possess an unrestricted worldwide travel-valid passport
- Accumulate 12 months of combined experience in customer service and sales roles with face-to-face interactions
- Exhibit fluency in spoken and written English
- Showcase exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Display flexibility in working shifts, including unsociable hours, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts
- Successfully complete a "height and reach assessment" tailored to aircraft types
- Adhere to uniform regulations and guidelines, ensuring tattoos and piercings remain discreet
- Pass an airport security vetting procedure, inclusive of a five-year background check
Aer Lingus specifies the 158cm height requirement as essential to facilitate cabin crew tasks such as door operation and accessing safety equipment stored in overhead bins. Cabin crew members must be able to reach into a compartment measuring 180cm in height and access items located 40cm inside the compartment.
This recruitment campaign, conducted in collaboration with Nobox, coincides with Aer Lingus' expansion of its European and North American routes. In the upcoming year, the airline plans to introduce two new transatlantic services to Denver and the twin cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul.
The application deadline is September 29, and prospective candidates must complete initial assessments, encompassing interviews, height and reach evaluations, and a "one-on-one Uniform Adherence check" (specifics of which remain undisclosed by the airline).
Successful candidates will embark on an intensive six-week paid training program at Aer Lingus' Training Academy in Dublin, scheduled from January to May of the following year. Training includes preparation for short-haul routes on Airbus A320 aircraft and long-haul flights on Airbus A321 neos—single-aisle aircraft distinctly different from the wide-body A330s servicing many transatlantic routes.
In addition to the basic salary, Aer Lingus cabin crew members receive "applicable allowances" when conducting overnight duties away from their base. They are also provided with a "designer uniform" crafted by Louise Kennedy. The airline extends staff travel discounts, which cabin crew can utilize with partner airlines, hotels, and car rental companies, although precise discount details remain undisclosed. Cabin crew also enjoy a staff discount at Dublin Airport's Loop duty-free shopping.
